About Heather Cannon

I have worked in the fields of Social Work and School Counseling for the last 20 years. Although they are different careers technically they overlap significantly, which allows me to bring the best aspects of both degrees to one role. Over my years of experience I have earned both my LCSW and my DOE Certification. I have trained colleagues and peers in Peace for Kids (an aggression replacement training that was brought to SLPS several years ago) and Youth Mental Health First Aid (the chosen curriculum by FL legislature to increase mental health awareness to all school employees). I introduced and initiated an evidence-based curriculum called Girls on the Run to SLPS and was head coach to the first elementary team in the district. My prior years of experience at the VAMC in Palm Beach County, Children’s Medical Services, Department of Children and Families, and St. Lucie Public Schools has provided me with a foundation of knowledge and experience in three Social Work and Mental Health fields that benefit my practice as a private practitioner and a group psychotherapist at Cleveland Clinic.
