About Heather Charette

I received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (with distinction) from the University of Calgary in June of 2018. From June, 2018 to February, 2020 I worked as an EIT as part of the Fluid Dynamics team at NOVA Chemicals. My work involved engineering support for NOVA's assets in the petrochemical industry as well as research and development for TC Energy in areas such as Plant & Measurement; Flow Efficiency; Gas Quality; and Materials, Design & Construction. Additionally, I was responsible for all aspects of the experimental work performed at the Didsbury Gas Dynamic Test Facility—an above-ground, full-scale natural gas test loop which pulls gas from the NGTL system—including experiment design, installation, data collection, and analysis. I began a new position as a Mechanical EIT with Wood Canada Ltd based out of Trail, BC in February 2020. My role involves providing detailed mechanical design and analysis for customers in the mining, refining, and hydroelectric generating industries. I received my P.Eng. licence in May, 2022. As a result of my first degree and subsequent work as a physiotherapist I acquired valuable time management, communication, and interpersonal skills. I believe the combination of these skills with my problem solving, analytical, and computer skills gained from my studies and work experience in engineering makes me well suited to a variety of positions in the mechanical engineering discipline. I have a particular interest in the mining, aerospace, oil and gas, and biomedical industry. In my spare time I enjoy flying as a hobby pilot, skiing, and traveling.
