About Heather Decastro

I am a psychotherapist, educator, and founder of Millennium Psychotherapy, a private practice located in New York City. I work with individuals, couples, and professionals navigating high-pressure careers, complex relationships, and the often-overlooked costs of success. With over a decade of experience and a background in the fashion industry and finance, I understand how ambition, pressure, and transitions can take a psychological toll on individuals. I founded Millennium to provide thoughtful, depth-oriented support shaped by clinical training and informed by lived experience. In addition to my clinical work, I teach and supervise at several psychoanalytic institutes across New York City, including the Training Institute for Mental Health, where I lead courses on transference, countertransference, and the evolving impact of technology on the therapeutic process. I also mentor graduate students and early-career therapists, helping them develop reflective and ethically grounded practices. As Co-Chair of the Psychoanalytic Society at TIMH, I curate interdisciplinary events that foster dialogue between clinical thinking, culture, and technology. I have organized over 20 conferences and presented nationally on topics such as psychotherapy, supervision, and the emotional implications of digital life, exploring how digital environments shape our emotional experiences and therapeutic relationships. My newsletter, Kicking the Bot™ explores what unfolds in the therapy room and in our inner lives as we adapt to a world increasingly influenced by algorithms, automation, and online identity.
