About Heather Gardner

Heather lives and breathes music. With professional training in piano performance and arts management, her ears intimately understand the relationship between song and picture, and how to harmoniously capture that magic within any budget. As Head of Music Supervision + Licensing at Vapor Music and Long Division, Heather balances her right brain creativity with extensive left brain attention to detail, allowing for a seamless licensing process from concept to contract to cue sheet. Her credits span television series, feature films, TV movies, advertising campaigns and video games that have been seen worldwide, including series Robyn Hood (created by Director X, Global TV/Stack TV), Acting Good (CTV Comedy/APTN), and upcoming projects BET (Netflix) and My Dead Mom (Crave), alongside feature films Hell of a Summer (directed by Stranger Things’s Finn Wolfhard and Billy Bryk), Suze (dir. Linsey Stewart and Dane Clark) and the upcoming Paying For It (dir. Sook-Yin Lee), Young Werther (dir. José Lourenço) and Drive Back Home (dir. Michael Clowater). Heather's experience in music supervision for advertising includes campaigns for brands such as IKEA, Joe Fresh, Scotiabank, Enbridge, American Express and more. Heather is a multi-award winner at the Canadian Sync Awards, and alongside colleague Telan Wong was a part of the most nominated music supervision team at the 2024 awards, with seven nominations. Heather and Telan brought home two of these awards, for Best Sync - Scene, Episodic Television for their work on 'Robyn Hood', and Best Sync - Soundtrack, TV movie for 'A Scottish Love Scheme'. Heather was also nominated for two awards in 2023 alongside colleague Telan Wong in both the Best Sync - Advertising (for IKEA) and Best Sync - Soundtrack, Comedy (for 'Acting Good') categories, and was the recipient of the award for Best Sync - Advertising at the inaugural Canadian Sync Awards for her work on the President’s Choice spot #EatTogether. Heather currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Guild of Music Supervisors, Canada and is frequently invited to share her expertise as a guest speaker at events including the Toronto International Film Festival, the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA)’s Prime Time conference, Canadian Music Week, South by Southwest, and East Coast Music Week, among others.
