About Heather Gregory

I work at the EBCI Water Quality Laboratory, located in the Cherokee Wastewater Treatment Plant. My main areas of focus are with surface water, chemistry, microbiology, and wastewater. We work on a rotating six sub-basin schedule, which means that we have six different sub-basins that we sample from, and we do one per year. I help educate the community on environmental issues regarding water quality or wetlands. We are grant-funded by the EPA and work accordingly under the EPA Clean Water Act. I am also the manager of the EBCI Wetlands Program, where we have been mapping and analyzing tribal wetlands, taking plant samples to put in our herbarium and seed bank for use in future restoration efforts. I am also a certified wastewater analyst via the NCAWWA, and I am certified to use the North Carolina Wetland Assessment Method (NCWAM).
