About Heather Jacombs

I entered the insurance industry with the goal of utilising the analytical and research skills I gained through my biology degree in a real world context. The insurance industry allows me to do this, but has also given me the opportunity to gain an understanding of many businesses and industries I had no concept of before. I love to research different clients in order to really understand them and the nuances of their work, ensuring that we can offer them the best service possible.Although I am still learning about the industry and Marsh, my first few months have been highly productive and informative. Within three months I completed my Cert CII and I am currently working on my Dip CII, with the goal of gaining my ACII by the end of the graduate programme. I have had the opportunity to work within various areas of the business and have been increasingly gaining independence with my client work.I have always loved analytical work that allows me to learn new things and understand areas previously unknown to me. For example, in my degree I needed to teach myself to code in order to complete my project modelling the behaviour of blue tits, and found it a stimulating and rewarding experience. My current work in the insurance industry has allowed me to utilise skills I gained in academia in practical and novel ways, making me eager to see what new skills and knowledge I will gain as I explore the industry.
