About Heather Mayone

For nearly two decades, Heather has been helping individuals, couples, and families grow and thrive. Heather graduated with her Master’s Degree from the Pratt Institute, the oldest and most well established Creative Arts Therapy program in the nation, in 2007. Since then, Heather has received intensive supervision and training in psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, and family systems therapy. Additionally, she has supervised Master’s level clinicians and has facilitated trainings in art therapy, child and parent therapy, and couples therapy. She is the recipient of the Conference Scholarship Award from the American Art Therapy Association and the Haym Solomon Award of Excellence for her work in the nonprofit world. Originally getting her start working with children, Heather worked at an early intervention preschool and additionally with children with physical disabilities. Heather then transitioned into adult and family work, providing therapy in hospital and non-profit settings to adults in inpatient and outpatient programs. Heather has been in private practice since 2012 and most recently, served as the Director of a thriving group practice in Manhattan. She opened her own practice in order to fully devote herself to her patients and focus solely on clinical work. Heather has vast experience with individuals, kids and teens, and couples and families and does not limit the scope of who she works with. Heather has been interviewed and quoted in several media outlets including Brides, NY Times: For Kids, The Today Show and Nylon. Heather is a values driven therapist and person and leads all of her relationships with care, respect, and transparency. She is not a blank screen therapist who hangs back. She makes all of her patients feel like she is their true partner.
