About Heather Rule

I love writing, sports and social media. If I'm able to do something that's any combination of those things, I'm happy. In 2015, I became one of six in-game social media coordinators in Major League Baseball, updating Twitter for the Minnesota Twins. I continued with that role through the 2023 baseball season. I'm an award-winning reporter, with a background in a variety of areas, including sports, city government, education, crime, community news and general assignments. Though I love sports, I'm much more of a spectator than an athlete, which goes along well with reporting because reporters observe. I didn't play many sports, but I love to watch them. It's so rewarding to see the great stories that come out of sports. I worked at three newspapers in Greater Minnesota. I've built up my portfolio with a variety of freelance opportunities including covering state high school tournaments and writing feature stories for the Star Tribune. Starting with the 2023-24 hockey season, I expanded my role with Minnesota Hockey Magazine, becoming the editor.
