Heather Sundram is a forward-thinking leader within Ernst & Young LLP’s Federal Tax Services practice, known for helping organizations improve taxpayer outcomes by integrating comprehensive federal tax strategies with broader business goals. She is a Tax Partner/Principal based in Boston, Massachusetts, where she leads EY’s East Geo Federal Tax Advisory practice and serves as the Americas Federal Tax Advisory Leader for the Life Sciences sector.Heather brings more than 23 years of experience in federal tax planning, with a primary focus on advising pharmaceutical and life sciences companies across the full innovation and commercialization lifecycle. Her work is grounded in deep technical expertise in areas critical to the life sciences industry, including research and orphan drug credit services, Section 174, AMIC, QPP, inventory and uniform capitalization methods, income and expense recognition (including the FDII deduction), capitalization and cost recovery, and interest capitalization. In addition to her life sciences focus, Heather has advised clients in manufacturing, semiconductor, technology, and retail and consumer products industries, giving her a broad perspective on complex tax issues impacting growth-oriented businesses.Heather earned her J.D, M.B.A, and L.L.M. in Taxation from Temple University, building on her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. She is admitted to the Pennsylvania state bar and is an active, long-standing member of the American Bar Association’s Tax Section.
