Breaking Through the Clouds: The First Women's National Air Derby (BTTC) is an award winning documentary telling the story of 20 women who broke barriers by flying across the country in an air race in 1929. Amelia Earhart, Pancho Barnes, Phoebe Omlie and all the women of the derby are role models for following one's passion and for creating community. BTTC has screened several times at AirVenture in Osh Kosh (largest air show in the world), National Aviation Hall of Fame Film Festival, Reel Stuff, Air Race Classic (modern day women's air race) College Park Aviation Museum, Columbia Festival of the Arts and many other venues as well as being the official selection of 14 film festivals. Heather has been on panels at the National Air & Space Museum, First Flight Society at Kitty Hawk, NC, AOPA and Women in Aviation Conferences among others. She was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Society as a result of her work on BTTC.
