About Heejung Seo

As a dedicated geoscientist with a BSc in Petroleum Geology from Royal Holloway, University of London, and an MSc in Petroleum Geoscience from Imperial College London, my educational path has granted me a profound understanding of sedimentary basins and petroleum systems. My expertise is further enhanced by my proficiency in key software tools such as ArcGIS and Petrel, essential in geological mapping and seismic analysis. A highlight of my academic journey was my master’s thesis at Imperial College, where I focused on assessing depleted gas fields in the Southern East Irish Sea Basin for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) suitability. This work was not only nominated for the Curry Prize but also selected for future geo-energy education. My journey continued with an MSc in Energy Systems from the University of Oxford, deepening my insights into the complex interplay of technology, economics, and policy within the energy sector. As the Publicity Officer for the Oxford Energy Society and an intern at Oxford Net Zero and the CO2RE Greenhouse Gas Removal Hub, I have actively engaged in promoting energy and climate initiatives, as well as managing websites to ensure up-to-date information on global climate targets of various countries, regions, and companies. These roles enhanced my communication, data analysis, and quality control skills. My academic and professional journey has been more than just a quest for knowledge in oil and gas exploration and the advancement of renewable energy. It has been a path to finding specific, measurable, and timely solutions to both real-world and future challenges in energy transition. I look forward to applying my knowledge and experience in the dynamic field of geoscience and sustainable energy.
