About Heidi Hoeller

Heidi serves as an Independent Director and Audit Committee Chair on the Board of NBT Bancorp, Inc, a community bank offering commercial and retail banking and wealth management services across the Northeast. She is also an Independent Director and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee at Preferred Mutual Insurance Company, a New York–based property and casualty insurer. In addition, she is a member of the Board of Trustees of Utica University—her alma mater—where she currently serves as Chair-Elect, Vice Chair, and Chair of the Resources & Finances Committee.An accomplished audit and finance executive, Heidi retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (“PwC”) after a 27-year career. During her tenure, she worked in PwC’s National Office advising audit teams in the insurance, banking, and broker/dealer sectors on engagements selected for PCAOB review. She also served as a consultant to financial services audit partners on audit methodology and reporting, and she designed, developed, and led training programs for experienced auditors across North America.Based primarily in the Northeastern United States, Heidi served as lead engagement partner for a broad portfolio of insurance clients—including property and casualty, life and health, and reinsurance companies. She began her career in the Syracuse office of a predecessor firm to Coopers & Lybrand LLP and later completed a secondment in Munich, Germany, supporting clients with the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards.Her extensive experience spans audits of global and regional financial institutions, separate accounts, captive insurers, and benefit plans. She has led integrated audits, financial statement audits, statutory insurance audits, state examinations, and Sarbanes–Oxley internal control implementations. Heidi has also advised clients on risk management, mergers and acquisitions, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance. Within PwC, she was deeply committed to recruiting, interviewing, teaching, and mentoring.Heidi earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting, magna cum laude, from Utica College in 1991. She is a licensed CPA in New York and a member of the AICPA. She also holds the NACD Directorship Certification, valid through December 31, 2027, and the NAMIC Mutual Insurance Director certification, valid through November 2026.
