About Heidi Karkinen

From Production Expertise to Project Coordination – and Beyond into Tech I started my career in the furniture industry in 2007 as a cutting and pattern expert. Over the years, I expanded my expertise to cover almost the entire production chain, gaining an in-depth understanding of manufacturing processes. At the beginning of 2023, I embraced a new challenge and transitioned into the role of Project Coordinator. In this position, I lead various renovation projects in the shipping industry — including assignments abroad at shipyards. I enjoy variety, problem-solving, and continuous learning. Driven by Curiosity – Evolving into IT and AI My growing interest in technology and artificial intelligence led me to pursue a degree in Business Administration – Information Technology (Tradenomi – Tietojenkäsittely) in 2024. This journey has strengthened my passion for digital solutions and the transformative potential of AI in the workplace. I’m eager to deepen my skills in IT, data, and intelligent systems, and I actively seek opportunities to apply this knowledge in real-world projects. Balancing Life with Canine Wellness Outside of tech and project work, I find balance through my second profession as a certified dog massage therapist (since 2021). Working with dogs has taught me patience, adaptability, and the value of immediate feedback. My experience training and competing with large shepherd dogs has also enhanced my ability to handle unexpected situations — skills that translate well into professional life.
