About Heidi Koenig
Postdoctoral research associate working in Paul Peterson's lab in the MST-7 group at LANL. Utilizing flow chemistry to improve the synthesis of various polymers for the lab as well as synthesizing small-molecule shuttles for delivering therapeutics across the blood-brain barrier. My Ph.D. work was in the Livinghouse group, synthesizing antimicrobial agents and adjuvants that target biofilms-specifically 2-amino-5-nitrothiazole amide analogues as well as 2-aminoimidazole analogues. This research was conducted in collaboration with chemical engineers and microbiologists at the Center for Biofilm Engineering in the Stewart lab, where our novel compounds were screened for anti-biofilm activity against MDR MRSA and PA. I am passionate about bridging the gap between scientific findings and public understanding, and am driven to the medicinal chemistry field through my interest in developing improved therapeutic agents for the treatment of MDR infections.
