About Heidi Peltier

Heidi Peltier's research includes analyzing the budgetary and financial impacts of defense spending, as well as estimating employment impacts of defense spending in comparison to other domestic priorities. Heidi has also developed a research agenda on what she calls the "Camo Economy," which is the vast enterprise of military contracting. She engages in this research through her position at Brown University's Costs of War project, where she is the Director of Programs. Much of Heidi's research and consulting has also focused on the employment impacts of public and private investments, particularly in the realm of clean-energy programs. Through quantitative analysis and qualitative research, Heidi analyzes policies and programs to advance low-carbon transportation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy. She has written and contributed to a number of reports on the clean energy economy, and is the author of the book, Creating a Clean-Energy Economy: How Investments in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Can Create Jobs in a Sustainable Economy. Heidi has served as a consultant with the U.S. Department of Energy, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and various other organizations.
