Heidi has a keen eye for style and visual design, and connects this with her years of experience in operations, team building, travel logistics and cross cultural experience. She empowers women through the arts and travel. She is an experienced seamstress and has more than 10 years in training seamsters. She is currently Sewing Operations Manager at a New York based retail company, overseeing 6 brick and mortar stores across the USA, each with onsite sewing and customization. Since 1994, Heidi has spent many years living and working with seamsters in Uganda and Kenya, working and traveling cross-culturally. She has a deep understanding of life and culture in East Africa and relationships that go back 25+ years. While in the USA, she has created personalized safaris and service trips to Kenya, connecting clients to nature and culture through travel and fabrics. In 2013 she founded her own company Safari Blankets, where she creates handmade blankets using a variety of found and ethically sourced traditional textiles from East Africa.
