About Heike Salzer

Heike Salzer is a German dance artist currently based in the UK. She has worked internationally as a performer, choreographer, videographer, teacher, researcher and consultant in professional, educational and community related contexts. She graduated as a certified Anna Herrmann gymnastic teacher/body therapist in Germany, trained contemporary dance at the conservatoire, ArtEZ (former Dance Academy) in Arnhem,(NL), holds a MA Choreography from the University of Leeds (GB)/ Fontys Dansacademie (NL) and a PhD by Published Works from the University of Roehampton (UK). Before coming to the UK Heike has worked for the conservatoires Fontys Dance Academy-Tilburg, ArtEZ Dance Academy-Arnhem, and Stedelijk Lyceum-Enschede in the Netherlands. She has been a faculty member at the Icelandic Ballet School and a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta.(MT) Her choreographic work and video dance pieces have been presented at a number of international festivals such as the International Videodance Festival Burgundy (FR), Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema (US) or Bang-VII Barcelona Videoart Festival,(SP). Heike has been invited to teach internationally in Iceland, The Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, USA and Malta. Research and teaching interests include: choreography, contemporary technique, site specific performance, dance and camera, technology in performance, professional dance education, curriculum development, professional dance training, interdisciplinary approaches and embodied research methods.
