About Helder Sousa

Born and raised in the dynamic 80s in a small town in the northwestern region of Portugal. In 1998, I packed up my life and followed my parents to the US and have since lived in New York, New Jersey, California (a brief 6 months), Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.My professional journey started in February 2001 when I joined Datascope as an Electronic Technician. At the time, my responsibilities included testing Patient Monitors and Intra Aortic Balloon Pumps. Later on, I transitioned into Manufacturing Engineering and soon found myself delving into the realm of regulatory affairs. In March 2006 I decided to explore opportunities outside Datascope and joined Integra LifeSciences where I held multiple roles. However, I found myself returning to Datascope, now under Getinge, in October 2010 to support the Cardiac Assist, Cardiac Surgery, and Cardiopulmonary products. In September 2017, I became part of the VS Merrimack team as Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs. I was promoted to Director of Regulatory Affairs in 2020 and was recently entrusted with the role of Interim Head of Quality.On a personal note, I have been married to my beautiful wife for over a decade. Together, we shower our Chiweenie, Donna, with much love and spoiling. My wife and I share a love for food and travel. I am a devout Star Wars fan and have a soft spot for cars and motorcycles.
