About Helen Beaton

Until 2016 I worked in Secondary care in multiple roles - Lead Nurse, Matron, Deputy General Manager and Head of Nursing - I have extensive experience in clinical and operational management across diverse specialties including Critical Care, Trauma & Orthopaedics, all aspects of Emergency and Elective Surgery, and Bed & Site management. Within the last decade I completed Prince 2 project manager's course and MSc in Clinical leadership; I have a BSc (Hons) in Nursing, a Diploma in Professional Practice Critical Care, and multiple ENB qualifications am lean methodology trained - I completed a RCN Diploma in Minor Illness management in 2021. I was a CQC Specialist Adviser until 2021 undertaking multiple inspections in all settings, recently inspecting at Director of Nursing level. I consistently demonstrate passion & commitment to patient safety, inspiring clinicians and managers to deliver services and care that results in the best outcomes for patients. In 2016 I joined HUC, reporting to the medical director & overseeing all aspects of the Quality, Governance and Safety agenda as well as Safeguarding. I led multiple investigations working collaboratively with NHSE, CQC, PHE, Coroners offices, patient families and various committees, producing board reports and ensuring key learning was cascaded across the organisation to relevant workforce, refining policies and procedures as necessary. I maintained expert clinical competence by working as a senior nurse in the out of hours as well as working as a Senior Auditor, these roles complementing the Governance role. In 2022 I commenced employment at SCAS as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner leading on the initiative to ensure safe and appropriate outcomes for patients; I also refine the clinical pathways working with the quality team and NHS digital. My vision professionally is to deliver excellent services while advocating lifestyle and environmental responsibility. I advocate rights for all sentient beings.
