About Helen Catton

Registered nurse with a Masters in Global Health, a diploma in Tropical Nursing (LSHTM) and a degree in Psychology, has over 18 years development experience in the healthcare field in SE Asia. Worked with Save the Children in the Primary Health Care program based in Luang Prabang, supporting all program elements with special focus on Maternal and Newborn care and supporting junior staff and GoL teams with the implementation of the SBCC approach at community level. Established and led operations of a 24 bed Satellite hospital in rural Cambodia (Angkor Hospital for Children). Worked in public health in a nurse led clinic on the border of Thailand/Burma (HIV/TB/ANC and vaccinations). Coordinated short term medical missions. Currently working in a remote district in Laos for World Renew as a Project Advisor providing technical input and capacity building to ensure quality and coherence in an integrated community development program with a team of 9 Lao field staff and district government partners. Support regional initiatives including project evaluations and situational assessments. Part of several World Renew Global Teams including Gender working group, Health CoP Co-chair, Justice Committee, Anti-racism and reconciliation team. Comprehensive multi-cultural leadership skills. Proficient in project evaluations, capacity building, community field work, donor and volunteer relations/report writing, proposals and managing budgets. Conversant in Japanese, Thai and Lao languages.
