About Helen Chin

Helen Chin is a Structural Engineer with more than 15 years of experience in structural design of concrete, steel and timber structures. Since obtaining Bachelors and Masters degrees in Applied Science at the University of British Columbia, she has worked with SNC-Lavalin on mass transit projects, highway and bridge projects, sign structures, industrial buildings, retaining walls and foundations. She has taken part in the design of tunnel portals, at-grade guideways and retaining walls in light rail transit projects such as the Evergreen Line Rapid Transit Project and the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit Project. She has worked on prestressed and post-tensioned girder bridges in highway and transit projects such as Edmonton Valley Line Light Rail Transit Project, spread footings for buildings and piled foundations for bridges, guideways and retaining walls. Helen has extensive experience in the use of Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6), Concrete Design Code (CSA A23.3) and Steel Design Code (CSA S16). She also has hands-on experience in field inspections and reports, as well as knowledge in engineering programs such as S-Frame and AutoCAD.
