About Helen Dickinson

As the Chief Executive of the British Retail Consortium (BRC), I lead a talented team of professionals dedicated to making a positive difference to the retail industry and its customers and the community, today and in the future. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, I have a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing retailers, and a passion for diversity and inclusion, social mobility, and sustainability. I am responsible for the strategic direction, performance, and impact of the BRC, which represents 200 retailers and across the UK. We tell the story of retail, advocate for the industry's interests, and drive change in areas such as policy, regulation, innovation, and skills. I am honoured to have received an OBE for services to the retail industry in 2016, and to be recognised as the Activist of the Year in the 2021 Retail Week Awards. I am also proud to serve as a member of the Pennies Retail Advisory Board, a Social Mobility Commission Ambassador, and a former Chair of Working Chance, a charity that helps women with criminal convictions find employment.
