About Helen Holmes

In 1997, I launched a Kumon center to enhance learning for children enrolled in pre-K to college. My center was ranked as one of the highest in the Southwestern United States. Children that were academically behind were able to catch up, while others excelled beyond their grade level. When I moved to Saudi Arabia, I launched another center geared towards children ranging from ages three to five years old. I helped them understand that learning can be fun. We initially started with 12 students, and after five years, our enrollment expanded to over 70 children from 15 countries. After returning to the U.S, we discovered "Creative Curriculum," through which children learn by doing. This curriculum has been empirically shown to increase academic, and psychological development from infancy to pre-K and beyond. We will be utilizing the “Creative Curriculum,” at Excel Preparatory Pre-School Academy. SELECTED LEADERSHIP ACHIEVEMENTS * Planned, developed and implemented the mission, vision, and curriculum for a new school * Developed a first in its class International ESL Preschool in Saudi Arabia * Designed an ESL preschool to accommodate over 15 nationalities * Designed the "Step-Up" curriculum to ensure that ESL toddlers & preschoolers were adequately- prepared for schools whose primary language was English * Developed a staff training model for ESL preschool teachers and caregivers * Owned and managed one of the fastest growing educational centers in the world * Lead a Kumon Math center that achieved top ten status in the United States Southwestern Region * Developed a program where third graders achieved doing math at a fifth grade level
