About Helen Krstev

I am a clinical psychologist with more than 15 years' experience in public and private practice with adults, adolescents and families. I work in full-time private practice in Carlton. Previously, I worked at Orygen Youth Health, delivered post-graduate clinical training at The University of Melbourne, and have published papers and books on psychotherapy and psychopathology. I specialise in psychotherapy, supervision, complex case presentations, and training psychologists. I work with adults and adolescents experiencing family and relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, anger, gender and sexuality related issues, as well as personality, mood, anxiety, and substance use problems. I provide psychoanalytic treatment to adults and adolescents, and supervision, including in the clinical registrar pathway. My approach is to identify the problems that patients bring, and what prohibits them from working towards what they want in their lives. I also discuss what assistance they are seeking as part of this assessment, prior to undertaking treatment with them.
