Senior communications professional with expertise and experience in-house in the public and private sectors and agency work. Worked across several disciplines - starting in the hectic world of government media relations, advising energy ministers and secretary of states, moving into overall corporate communications at a country and then a global level in large, global organisations. Comfortable giving counsel to senior executives but also getting stuck into tactics, embedding culture change and business change at a local level. Spanned big and small, government, public (FTSE 100) and private companies. Worked in large, global, matrixed teams and also created small, nimble in-house teams from scratch. So I know the pros and cons of big versus small. Particular expertise in sectors that are highly regulated and complex, working with senior level executives and multiple stakeholders internally and externally. Academic background in mathematics and chemistry so no problem with number crunching and communicating on science subjects. Learning data science in my spare time. Also a keen cyclist, runner (training for marathon no4), scrabble and bridge player.
