About Helen Mutimer

In my role as Head of IP Advisory at FB Rice, I have the privilege of about helping innovative companies develop and implement their IP strategies. I provide practical guidance and commercial advice on all aspects of intellectual property, ensuring that clients’ IP strategies align with and support their business goals. I specialise in delivering strategic counsel within the corporate sphere, advising businesses of all sizes - from corporations and SMEs to startups and research institutions. Before joining FB Rice, I spent over 14 years with Seqirus, a CSL Company where I was Head of IP supporting pharmaceutical products globally. With experience working in both IP firms and as in-house counsel in the US and Australia, I have expertise in developing strategies to obtain and leverage IP, securing freedom to operate through litigation and negotiations, and conducting due diligence on both the ‘sell-side’ and the ‘buy-side.’ Known for my creative problem-solving, I’m passionate about helping clients at the forefront of innovation, enabling them to thrive and maximise the value of their intellectual property. Clients appreciate my approachable, straightforward, and practical communication style. I’m also passionate about supporting local innovation in both small and large organizations, mentoring the next generation of IP professionals, and giving back to the industry I’ve been dedicated to for decades. I am a registered Australian and New Zealand patent attorney and was previously registered as a US Patent agent
