About Helen S.

Helen Shih was born and raised in Metro-Detroit, lived in New York for over a decade, and earned her business degree in Paris. She moved to Los Angeles to work in television without knowing a soul in the industry. She landed her first job as a production assistant from someone she met in a Facebook group. To pass time on set, she brought a Regency-era romance novel to read. She currently works on the television adaptation of said novel series as a writers’ room assistant, bringing her journey full circle. Outside of work, you can find Helen in the dance studio, reading any material that’s placed in front of her, and indulging in her latest curiosity: Formula One. Her Taiwanese parents still have no idea what she does. Her compulsively responsible personality does not allow her to relax, but she's working on it. Her modern-day stories have been described as "highly relatable, engaging, and entertaining." A script evaluator once described her female protagonist as "dark, sarcastic, and almost always naturally hysterical." Writing accolades include: two-time finalist of the Disney Entertainment Television Writing Program, second-round of the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition for an original television pilot, and finalist of the Helene Wurlitzer Artist Foundation’s Residency Program.
