About Helen Young

I am a partner and lead the Debenhams Ottaway family team. With over 30 years’ experience in family law, I work with individuals and families on all aspects of divorce and separation, specialising in complex high net worth cases, high value financial settlements and arrangements for children. My clients come to me to help them reach a fair settlement. I do everything I can to make the process as amicable and painless as possible so that they can get on with their lives. Sometimes that is easily achieved but not always. The increasingly international nature of our lives can make some situations more complex. Sometimes strong emotions and disagreements mean that court is the only option. I work closely with our private wealth and banking teams to look after clients who additionally need Wills, trusts and inheritance advice or help with selling and buying property or restructuring their business and finances, as a consequence of divorce. I am a member of Eurojuris, an international network of lawyers which means I know and work with lawyers in Europe and worldwide on cross-border/expat divorce and international children matters. I am listed as a leading family lawyer in the Chambers and Partners UK 2021 and Legal 500 2021 directories and the family team is recognised in both directories. I am a committee member with Hertfordshire Resolution.
