About Hemachander Subramanian

Assistant professor at National Institute of Technology Durgapur, WB, India. My current interest involves providing evolution-based explanations for the fundamental properties of DNA by elucidating the evolutionary pressures on a generic primordial self-replicating system. I did a 6-year post-doc/staff scientist stint at Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, FL, previously. My PhD was in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics at University at Buffalo, where I worked on Micromagnetics and Quantum Many-body Theory applied to Dilute Magnetic Semiconductors. I have a Masters in Computational Techniques from University of Hyderabad, India, and in Physics from Pondicherry University, India. Strengths and inclinations: A good repertoire of analytical and computational tools to solve problem at hand, an inclination to creatively solve technical challenges, desire to work in multi-disciplinary fields of technological, health, social and economic importance, deep interest in understanding involved but beautiful models of physical world and communicating them effectively to students.Specialties: Understanding and applying complex physical models to cross-disciplinary challenges, proficiency in using analytical and computational tools (Fortran, C, C++ and MATLAB).
