About Henk Bester

Henk has global experience in business, project development and major project execution. He commenced his career at Transnet as Assistant Engineer and later senior and depot engineer wherafter he successfully joined the private sector and became the Managing Director of R&H Railway Consultants. He successfully grew this firm from a small partnership into an 80+ employee company and gained the recognition as the biggest privately owned railway consultancy company in Africa. After 10 years at R&H Railway Consultants, he joined the global firm of Hatch Consulting as a Rail Lead and later became the Global Rail Lead and Managing Director Rail looking after Australia, South America and MENA (Middle East & North Africa) as well as the rest of Africa. He successfully built rail as the major contributor to infrastructure development as a third generator for Hatch outside the historic key pillar sectors of Mining and Energy. Henk has developed from a Railway Specialist into a successful business leader and accumulated his knowledge way beyond infrastructure into mining, bulk material handling and logistics. In addition, and as a natural business leader, his skills developed around business development and into project and business finance. He has been involved in various projects all over the world, from Australia to Brazil, Canada, Middle East and various African countries.
