About Henri Heussen

With over 30 years of expertise in occupational hygiene and toxicology, I’m passionate about bridging the gap between research and real-world applications. My mission? Turning complex scientific insights into practical, impactful solutions that make workplaces healthier and safer. I began my career with an MSc in Biology (1987) and later completed my PhD in Environmental Toxicology at Wageningen University & Research. My early work as a researcher laid a strong foundation for a lifelong commitment to innovation in occupational health. In 1993, I joined Arbo Unie, where I developed as a registered occupational hygienist and toxicologist. I’m proud to be one of the creators of Stoffenmanager®, a globally recognized tool for exposure assessment and control banding, making it easier for organizations to manage chemical and biological workplace risks effectively My guiding principle:"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler." This philosophy drives my approach to translating complex science into intuitive tools and solutions that OSH practitioners can use. Since 2014, I’ve been CTO and co-founder of Cosanta BV - Stoffenmanager®, a dynamic spin-out of TNO and Arbo Unie. At Stoffenmanager®, we continue to lead innovation in occupational health, empowering organizations worldwide with the knowledge and tools to create safer work environments.
