About Henri Truetsch

Though my first academic encounter with programming was in my early teenage years, it took awhile longer for it to become my passion. Early on I was reluctant to spend all much of my free time learning and practicing. That being said, slowly coding would find its way developing roots deep into me. The passion flourished and grew, and each opportunity to learn was just another chance to nourish this new passion. I was fortunate that in the forthcoming years in the military it had ample opportunity to grow and develop in parallel to my own personal growth. A prime example of this was when I joined the Bundeswehr to do my voluntary military service. I remember sitting in a lecture on "What to do in case of chemical and biological attacks". I was very tired because our instructors kept us awake until 1 am and woke us up at 4 or 5 am in the morning. To stay awake, I started writing little programs in Java on a piece of paper to get my brain back to work. That is how I started to have fun writing programs. I began taking my laptop to the barracks to check if my program would work after each lecture. Of course, these programs were just small methods, like finding the greatest common divisor. But I love working on these methods and improving them every time. After my service I choose to become a Software Engineer and went on to study at the Heilbronn University. My university is very praxis oriented. Meaning I already worked in a Scrum team developing a responsive web application using the Spring Framework and Vue.js for travelers who want to visit Schleswig-Holstein. I can quickly learn and adapt to unfamiliar programming languages and frameworks. I also have a very good understanding of Java, JavaScript, Postgresql and Python. I'm also currently doing an exchange semester at the Dundalk Institute of Technology in Ireland where I'm focusing on the Games Development course. It is refreshing to combine mathematics and physics with programming, after working on the web application over the last summer.
