About Henrik Ring

As a big data architect, I am a mediator that understands the concerns of the stakeholders. I can represent the views of the involved parties internally in a project: Business has a completely different focus than the programmers or the mathematician optimizing a predictive model; but we all share the same basic goal: improving the core business. Therefor I relate just as naturally to business perspectives as to deep technical challenges. Keeping stakeholder viewpoints separate in order to communicate efficiently yet keeping them aligned to the same fundamental architecture – or when needed govern the changes. Interest in big data is high. Just as high as the expectations for what we can accomplish with it. So keeping all stakeholders content and informed is crucial to success. We might be reaching for the sky, but we should be careful not to lose touch with the ground. Such a delicate balance is not upheld by one individual alone, but the architect does plays a key role in facilitating it. I prefer informal environments where ideas can flourish, and where the distance from an idea to a decision maker is short and the process agile. I admire skilled people and working with individuals that preserve their sense of humor even when facing obstacles.
