About Henry Baird

At twelve years old, I started "Winning Edge Lawns," my own lawn care company. With around 30 customers, I was able to develop the company into a profitable town-wide business that I continued till the end of High School. Following my June 2021 graduation from Garner Magnet High School, I worked as a warehouse associate/rebar fabricator at New South Construction Supply. While I was there, I interacted with customers and worked with outside sales representatives to satisfy customer orders. I had to leave New South Construction in August of 2021 to begin pursuing my Economics degree at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. In June 2022, I chose to apply what I had learned from taking automotives all four years of high school and work as a general service technician at Pep Boys. I diagnosed necessary repairs and discussed their significance with the customers. Working with customers at Pep Boys prepped me for my Internship the following summer at Aptive Environmental, where I sold pest control door-to-door. During my internship in May of 2023, I was able to sell over of multi-year pest control contracts in just nine weeks. Over my nine weeks, I gained a lot of knowledge regarding contract negotiations and fulfilling customer needs. These skills I gained in communication were very beneficial for my Amazon internship in May of 2024. At Amazon, I was an Area Manager intern in the inbound department where I managed, mentored, and trained Stow Department employees. During my time there, I also directed a project to improve the efficiency of the Inbound Department “Problem Solve.” Currently a captain of the Grinnell College Football team, I am going into my fourth year at Grinnell College and I am expected to graduate with an Economics degree in May of 2025.
