About Henry G Tomasiewicz
Present research projects involve the use of Micro-Compute Tomography (micro CT) to look at material properties in a non-destructive manner. Our lab uses Micro CT to look at normal skeleton growth in fish species, primarily zebrafish and Nothobranchius species (annual killifish). We are also using genetics together with Micro CT to examine the role of aging on the skeleton and the etiology of skeletal deformities, including, but not limited to scoliosis, in these fish species. Other projects involve development of "tools" that can extend the use of aquatic model systems in the K-12 classroom. To this end we have developed low cost aquatic animal rack systems and fluorescent microscopes for use in K-12 classrooms.
