Background
About Henry Hatfield
For the State of West Virginia, Henry Hatfield is program manager for two federal statewide grant programs, the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA), and CARES Act funding for both. With a combined budget of nearly $20 million, Henry assists shelters and non-profit organizations throughout the state in their efforts to provide housing and supportive services to those that are homeless, at-risk of being homeless, and those low-income individuals living with HIV/AIDS and their families. He is a member of many statewide committees including the WV Housing Conference planning committee, the WV Balance of State CoC steering committee and serves as the ranking and rating subcommittee chair, the statewide Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) steering committee and the WV Housing Collaborative. Additionally Henry is on the board of directors for both the Kanawha Valley Collective CoC and the WV Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Henry plans to continue working with these vulnerable underserved populations and being unwaveringly dedicated to the ultimate goal of ending homelessness for many individuals and families while also connecting them to vital critical services. Through working with West Virginia’s four Continuums of Care (CoCs), various state agencies, and those organizations that receive ESG and HOPWA funding, it is his continued hope that the number of those who do find stable housing increases while recidivism diminishes. He aspires to one day work directly for the national office of HUD in Washington, DC or one of its field offices. Even serving as director of one of these superbly driven organizations would be an absolute honor. In his spare time, Henry is an advocate for positive change and civil protections within the Charleston community and also volunteers his time with a number of local non-profit organizations.
