About Henry Lennon

Early career lecturer in Criminal Psychology, based at the University of Derby. I specialise in citizenship, migration, and the arena of social psychology more broadly. I teach in cognitive, social, and applied psychologies. I am experienced in several forms of qualitative and discursive research methodologies and approaches.I completed my PhD at Sheffield Hallam University supervised by Dr. Laura Kilby and Dr. Rachel Abbott in December 2018. My thesis was entitled 'A UK Discourse Analysis of Belonging in Romanian Identity and Immigratory Accounts'. This social psychological study used a dual-site discourse analysis to explore how Romanians were constructed in 'receiving society' and 'mover' discourse in the period leading up to the A2's EU transitional controls ending in 2014, a particularly contentious and fraught epoch in UK political discourse. I have presented my PhD research, alongside other projects, at a range of academic conferences throughout my studies. I am writing up my findings for publication and have been working with my former Director of Studies, Dr. Laura Kilby, on several papers on the multimodal critical discourse analysis of political cartoons.
