About Henry Murphy

I'm a University of Kentucky graduate with a degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and a strong foundation in both GIS and computer science. My academic and professional experience centers on geospatial analysis, data visualization, and problem-solving through technology. I’ve led and contributed to multiple GIS projects across Industrial and natural resource industries that involved spatial analysis, cartographic design, and data storytelling, often blending tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, and Adobe Creative Suite. I'm highly proficient in Esri platforms, and comfortable working across software environments to analyze, visualize, and communicate complex data. I have a technical skill set that includes programming (Python, R), database management, and working with APIs and web mapping tools. Professionally, I also bring experience in high-paced sales roles where I developed the ability to communicate ideas clearly to a wide range of audiences. This combination of analytical and communication skills helps me bridge the gap between data and real-world impact. I hold former certifications as a wildland firefighter in (NWCG S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior, NWCG S-130 Firefighter Training, NWCG L-180 Human Factors in the Wildland Fire Service) and certification in the Emergency Management Institute (IS-00100.c Introduction to Incident Command System ICS-100, IS-00700.b Introduction to the National Incident Management System) which has given me exposure to emergency response workflows and coordination across agencies. In my free time, I enjoy staying active, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and building interactive data visualizations related to professional sports. I’m always looking to connect with people in GIS, tech, sports, and media. Whether it’s a project, a new opportunity, or a collaboration, I look forward to making a positive impact.
