About Henry Woolley

My research interests lie in determining how plant and animal communities are influenced by ecological factors in their environments, and applying these insights to species conservation. As a PhD student I explored the ecological correlates of trends in the endangered Mississippi sandhill crane population, including predators, habitat quality, and climate conditions. My research is being used by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service to inform management decisions. While pursuing my PhD I supervised teams of student researchers collecting data in both field and laboratory settings and taught introductory biology laboratory. Involving people with diverse backgrounds and points of view in science can lead to increased creativity, teamwork, and better leadership. As such a major goal of mine is to involve citizen scientists and underrepresented communities in my research.
