Significant interactions outside the Purchasing department. Was tasked to create a Fluid Control process improvement. Process prior to implementation was at best scattered throughout the plant. Machinists were spending more time looking for work than actually performing the task at hand, We Improved from 72% to 85% efficiency by presenting with W/O release with all raw materials, tools, inspection gages, and standardization of tooling to help sustain the improvement. Provides expertise in directing projects within assigned areas including the Purchasing department. We defined standard work with Senior Buyers, Buyers, and Planners input We measured prior to implementation our OTD at 88-90% We analyzed the improvement and its affect The improvement was made in our efficiency and it reflected a positive result of 3 to 5% percentage points. The controlling of our process improved our OTD from 91 to 95% We sustained the improvement by measuring weekly to maintain the improvement Serves on increasingly more significant project teams/task forces.Fluid Control was informed by our Director of Operations of our down turn in business and the possibility of downsizing. We had already downsized from 41 to 23 machinists. I informed him that we are spending $21 million dollars with local California machine shops and our need to pull in some of the work from our suppliers. I was tasked to analyze current existing orders with our suppliers against our internal costs. Created team of Cost accountant, Estimator, and myself, and established a spread sheet to plug our OH, Material, Processing, Labor rate, to review suppliers’ costs against ours.
