About Herb Dorszynski

I am fortunate to have grown up in the roofing industry and to have had my career grow in it. Working initially on roofs, steeples, and smokestacks in Milwaukee, I transitioned to roles in roofing estimating and project management while living in southern California. My understanding of the industry grew as part of the Celotex corporation. My responsibilities grew from field sales of roofing and roof insulation products to a national account position with broader responsibilities to building insulation, gypsum sheathing, acoustical ceilings, and fiberboard sheathing. My understanding of roofing sales to one-step and two-step distribution grew in the process. It also grew through sales to cooperative buying groups and mass merchants. While at Celotex, I became a corporate sales trainer in sales modules such as Frontline Leadership and Professional Selling Skills. My career shifted to the concrete industry. During this time I moved my home to Northern California, and ultimately Reno, to support my son's ski racing. In Reno I became part of D&D Roofing & Sheet Metal as an estimator and project manager. I also headed up the ESOP(Employee Stock Ownership Plan) committee for a couple years. I joined F.Rodgers corporation and was assigned the close out of 25 projects in southern California. I was pleased to become part of Johns Manville and return to the San Francisco Bay Area. Throughout my various roles and various companies, I continue to learn and develop my skills. I am so grateful for the wonderful friendships that I gained while being part of those companies. I am also glad that the manner in which I left those organizations was on a positive and mutually respectful basis.
