About Herbert Bayer

Customs, VAT, Export Control, Protections and Prohibitions, Excise Tax and More! I started my customs career more than 30 years ago in 1987. I was a customs officer, became a customs and VAT consultant, started over to the Automotive Industrie and became a lawyer. I could learn customs and internatioal trade issues from all sights. Still one of my best decisions was to work for Audi. I was responsible for international customs affairs and had to deal with many special projects. That was also the time I got familiar with excise taxes due to the fact that the new „Ökosteuer“ was introduced. From 2001 to 2010 I worked for Deloitte in Munich. What a great time with so manny technical challenges! As of 2005 I was allowed to take the lead of the customs team and the projects grew with the years. In 2010 I left Deloitte in order to focus on my own law office I founded in As a lawyer I can go new ways besides tax/customs consulting. Today I work in export control, VAT, excise tax and protections and prohibitions. The Sanctions are, however, a big issue. WIth my new work My wish grew to do something new with colleagues from other fields of law. With a compliance team we could offer customs-made compliancesolutions in the interface of the legal fields created by designated specialist solicitors and law experts in their profession. In January 2019 I started to introduce the new „Resort HB20 - Customs and Trade Compliance“ as a Partner of ANWALTSHAUS Rechtsanwälte Gerle und partner mbB. Today is more than a „customs department“. I have the great opportunity to work together with great lawyer colleagues from other disciplines like business law, company law, data privacy law, trademark law, public law, administrative offence or crime law. Mediation opens a great new field for solving compliance issues in a new way. Together with the compliance team ACT No.1 (Anwaltshaus Compliance Team No.1)I have started a whistleblowing project, that develops solutions this new challenge together with our clients.
