About Herbert de Vries

HERBERT DE VRIES – LEAN PRINCIPAL Herbert De Vries, DBL University of South Africa 2015, Bsc (Eng).(Mech.) University of Pretoria 1972, MBL University of South Africa - 1978. He is Doctor of business leadership and a professional engineer. He has implemented a world class manufacturing system for the metals industry as Chair of the manufacturing cluster involving industry, government and manufacturing engineering organisation. As a Lean Manufacturing Global Trainer for the Weir organisation he was responsible for training of Weir organisation in Lean Manufacturing disciplines for the Middle East, and Africa. Herbert is an Associate of the Lean Institute Africa. He runs his own business and is involved in various business areas, including Lean Manufacturing and Total Quality Management systems. His other interests include interactive learning where he assists as a mentor with the development of learners and University students. He is also a regular speaker for the SAIMECH Continued professional development program. Herbert has spent more than 30 years in operational and strategic manufacturing management roles and has extensive experience in both Project Management and Process Improvement.
