About Herbert Gabernig

Hands-On Global Supplier Quality Assurance and Claim Manager with 5+ years of experience in supplier management as well as 2+ years of experience as an intralogistics project engineer. I love to dig into company’s problems concerning their supplier quality as well as supply chain management and to solve them by using the opportunities of the digital transformation. What excites me the most, is to apply my supplier and process management skills to help manufacturing companies to increase their profit by generating cost savings through constantly increasing the volume of outsourcing parts while simultaneously optimizing supplier's quality. To accomplish this, I focus on the big picture by considering all relevant variables contributing to the supplier quality. I identify company’s and supplier's weaknesses, build cross-functional teams and improve existing processes and procedures by using digital tools. As the strategic development of the Global SQA-department is my main focus, I am acting as the responsible project lead for supplier quality related process improvements. Recent achievements: • I was significantly involved in building up the company's entire SQA-department from zero, where I had the opportunity to completely organize something from scratch and to define new processes and procedures. • Successful reduction of the complaint rate during the last 3 years while simultaneously increasing the purchase order volume of outsourcing parts by 74%(Team effort). • Digitalization and optimization of the initial sampling process (PPAP), which reduced the number of required resamplings by 80%, increased the productivity of the Quality Assurance Team and generated cost savings in the amount of per year. •Successful implementation of the "early supplier integration - process" in development projects based on the APQP approach. • Optimization of global sourcing and RFQ activities, by creating and implementing a technical questionnaire (which has to be answered by the suppliers) in the sourcing and RFQ processes for a more effective selection of appropriate suppliers.
