About Hermi Suhirman

My approach to design is of relating the inside to the outside; one that draws the outside in, and pulling the inside out. This, to me, strengthens the role that architecture and landscape collectively play in engaging, planning, and the eventual designing of interventions. Such simple yet thoughtful strategies could heighten the level of experiential encounters of human spaces. These in turn, expand and extend such spaces, allowing for deeper and richer understanding of how intricately and intimately connected built-forms can be, to the environment. My recently-completed and current projects include residential houses in Fendalton and the hill suburbs of Mt Pleasant, Redcliffs & Lyttelton, all in Christchurch, New Zealand. These are either landscaped spaces, or new house builds. I work closely with Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) Chris Cawley, and licensed builders, in order to manage expectations of the building regulations- Registered Architect (Singapore)- Member (Affiliated) New Zealand Institute of Architects - Ex-Studio Master (for Specialist Diploma in Interior & Landscape Design) at BCA Academy (Singapore)- Part-Time Tutor (for Landscape Architecural Module - Living Landscapes) at Lincoln University (NZ)- Designer (Architectural, Landscape & Interior) at The White Franj-i-panni in Christchurch (NZ)
