About Hernan Lopez

I am the founder of Owl & Co, a management consulting firm helping firms in media, tech and the attention economy create value using the proprietary Streamonomics® framework. Previously I founded Wondery, which became the largest storytelling podcast company in the world. We created hit shows like Dirty John, Business Wars, American History Tellers, Gladiator, many of which were adapted for television. I served as Executive Producer on the TV shows WeCrashed, Dr Death, The Shrink Next Door, American Sports Story, and Dying For Sex. Amazon acquired Wondery in 2021. Prior to Wondery, I scaled and ran Fox International Channels, a $3bn division of Fox (now Disney). During my tenure as COO and then CEO, FIC launched hundreds of entertainment and documentary channels around the world under the Fox, FX, National Geographic, Fox Life, Star and other brands and their digital extensions, oversaw production companies, and pioneered the worldwide simultaneous release of a TV show with "The Walking Dead" in partnership with AMC in the US. While at Wondery, I was a Founding Governor of The Podcast Academy, an organization that supports podcasters and advances the medium's cultural merit. Through programs including The Ambies, they celebrate, inspire, and connect creators worldwide, while attracting new audiences to their work. In addition, I started and still run the Hernan Lopez Family Foundation, a non-profit organization that seeks to elevate rising leaders through grants, training, and mentorship including a Fellowship now in its fifth year. Born in Argentina, I moved to Miami in 1997, to work for Fox and get an MBA from the University of Miami. Today, I live in LA with my family.
