About Herschella Steele

As a Manager at Kingsborough Community College, I oversee the online student success initiatives and coordinate the enrollment process for FLEX programs. I have more than eight years of experience in academic advising, mentoring, and resiliency building for students from diverse backgrounds and needs. I hold a Master of Arts in General Psychology from North Central University and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development - Psychology from State University of New York Empire State College. I am passionate about supporting students in achieving their academic and personal goals, and enhancing their online learning experience. I have helped with the development and implementation of multiple strategies and programs to increase student engagement, retention, and satisfaction, such as online orientation, peer mentoring, virtual workshops, and webinars. I have also collaborated with faculty, staff, and external partners to ensure the quality and accessibility of online courses and resources. My core competencies include student engagement, mentoring, resiliency, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
