About Herson Abreu

I am an IT professional with over 25 years of experience capable of leading diverse/multicultural teams in complex environments in adopting changes, innovations, and achieving customer satisfaction. I have worked at national and international levels with non-Governmental organizations, Universities and United Nations. As an ICT Emergency Responder, I successfully led mission as Regional Chief of ICT with the UN Mission to the Ebola Emergency Response (UNMEER) in Guinea. As a highly skilled Customer Care leader, I co-founded the IT Global Help Desk in New York and the Global Shared Service Center in Budapest for UNICEF, providing world-class customer service 24 hours a day to all users in 200+ offices worldwide on ICT and business-related services. As an innovator, I created the Business Innovation & Support section of the UNICEF GSSC implementing RPA, data analytics, systems integration. I am currently the Chief of Digital Solutions and Innovation for the Eastern and Southern African region providing leadership in the digital transformation, heading a team that provides, technical support, oversight, and quality assurance in the field of ICT, Innovation and applying Technology for Development in 21 countries. My peers and colleagues refer to me as a natural leader who brings the team together to achieve results. I am effective at planning and implementing large-scale projects with an emphasis in process efficiency and innovative solutions. I have a bachelor’s degree as Computer Science Engineer and a Masters on Leading Innovation and Change. I also hold certificates on Project Management (PRINCE2) and ITSM practitioner in Service Level Management. I continuously seek for new opportunities and challenges that help widen my professional horizons whilst allowing me to contribute with organizational efficiency and technical innovation.
