About Herwin Yip

Herwin is the co-founder and CEO of Loko Creek Logistics, a profitable marine logistics startup that specializes in complicated river and transshipment operations for dry bulk mineral cargo. He brings more than a decade of financial, commodities and real asset investment experience with leading financial institutions and trading houses. Previously, Herwin was the VP of Principal Strategic Investments in Gerald Group – a leading physical commodities trader – and managed over $500m in investments ranging from mines to logistical assets. During this time, Herwin also lead the restructuring of a distressed iron ore mine in West Africa. He negotiated over US$100m in contracts, reduced operating costs by more than 50% and completed the development 25% ahead of schedule and 20% under budget. Herwin is a detailed oriented and ‘hands-on’ manager. He adopts an analytical approach to identifying the most impactful ‘log jams’ and uses ‘first principles’ fixing problems. Herwin is a proven team player, having led more than 300 staff in various mining operations, and is also a commissioned officer in the Singapore Armed Forces.
