2020 is certainly going to be a year to remember. The so-called Normal has been shaken to its foundations as we now (in May) prepare to re-emerge from our personal self-isolation. Like many people I have spent time gardening and tidying the house. Not sure how successful I have been but hey, I tried! I came across the paperwork for my first training job (1984) in the City with an international insurance broker. Gosh that did take me back: salary £7,002! Ironically this post - with the benefit of hindsight - really did shape my future in so many ways. The foundations: my values, my priorities were set. We all need an inspirational mentor and I was so lucky. My passion has always been about collaboration and over the years I have worked with a wide variety of people, some of whom really did not 'get' what collaboration really is about. Others have been superb. All great learning and there is more to come. Working with a wide variety of people has provided me with an invaluable insight into how best to bridge across all sectors - private, public & Third Sector. All are unique and yet share some underlying principles around people management: communications, team working, sharing goals, getting 'buy-in' and so much more. For me, AppliedHR seamlessly blends organisational goals & plans with the people dimension as one cannot succeed without the other - omit this at your peril, I say!
